Analysis of Holter changes in subjects who consume alcohol in PLA navy global visiting task group

Abstract: AIM:To analyze the Holter changes in subjects who consume alcohol in the Chinese PLA navy global visiting task group. METHODS: We divided 77 men and four women in the PLA navy global visiting task group into non-alcohol consumers (<50g within 24h) and alcohol consumers of (≥50g within 24h). Holter changes were analyzed 5-15 days before voyage and 65-75 days and 115-125 days after voyage. RESULTS: Compared with those in the group of non-alcohol consumers, the average heart rate and the lowest heart beat were faster, the highest heart beat was slower, the sinus node dysfunction and premature contraction were more frequent, the ST segment was lower, QTd, QTc and QTcd increased and SDNN, SDANN, SDNN indexes, RMSSD, NN50, PNN50, triangular index, VLF, HLF, VAI and VLI were lower in the group of alcohol consumers (P<0.01). The greater the daily consumption of alcohol, the greater were the above changes (P<0.01). CONCLUSION: These findings suggest that in PLA navy global visiting task group, the autonomic nervous system dysfunction in subjects who consume alcohol may be more serious than in nondrinkers.
