Abstract: AIM To investigate factors associated with blood pressure (BP) response to the cold pressor test (CPT) in young. METHODS 483 participants aged 17-28 years were filled in a questionnaire. Each person was measured for height and weight, and BP response to the CPT. RESULTS The systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) high reaction rates were 8.9% and 6.0%, respectively. In multivariable analyses, the study determined that male gender (OR=2.916，OR95%CI 1.382-6.152, P<0.05), alcohol consumption (OR=12.600, OR95%CI 2.236-70.994, P<0.01) was significantly associated with higher BP response to the CPT, while higher baseline BP (OR=0.877, OR95%CI 0.834-0.923, P<0.001) was significantly associated with lower BP response to the CPT. CONCLUSION Male gender and alcohol consumption are significantly associated with of higher BP response to the CPT in the young, while higher baseline BP is significantly associated with lower BP response to the CPT.
