Abstract: In China, cold area is vast and is of great importance in military strategy and economic development. At the same time, the harsh climate in the cold region also seriously affects the health of the local military and civilians. Therefore, it is of great significance to protect the physical and mental health of people, enhance the scientific and technological strength of military logistics support, and ensure national border security and economic development in the cold region. However, at present, the shortage of China cold region medical research talents is far from meeting the development and needs of the cold area medicine field. In order to change this situation and improve the needs of development and construction in cold regions, the authors’ institution has established the first key laboratory of cold area medicine in China. Focusing on the major problems, we have gradually established a mode for cold region medical teaching, scientific research innovation and talent training, which has alleviated the current shortage of medical research talents in cold regions and improved the scientific and technological strength of military medical support in cold regions.
