Abstract:
AIM To analyze the interventional treatment of ventricular septal defects (VSDs) for congenital heart disease in local hospitals in China.
METHODS The data of the network direct report system for congenital heart disease of National Health Commission were collected and the status of percutaneous closure of VSDs from January 2009 to December 2020 was analyzed.
RESULTS A total of 58, 156 cases of percutaneous closure of VSD were performed in 150 local hospitals in China in the 12 years. The technical success rate was 95.990%, the rate of serious complication was 0.353% and in-hospital mortality was 0.021%.
CONCLUSION Percutaneous closure of VSDs is safe and effective. The long-term outcome for patients with device closure of VSDs remains to be determined.
