    Application of case-based learning in cardiovascular surgery clinical teaching for international undergraduates

    • 摘要:
        目的  探讨以病例为引导的教学模式(case-based learning, CBL)在本科留学生心血管外科临床实习中的应用。
        方法  选择2014级在西安交通大学第一附属医院心血管外科实习的本科留学生20人为研究对象,随机分为对照组(传统教学法,10人)和CBL教学组(10人)。对照组以PPT的方式进行讲授,而CBL教学组通过挑选典型临床案例开展小组讨论式教学,整个教学过程贯穿术前-术中-术后。实习结束后对留学生学习效果进行评价,并通过问卷形式进行满意度调查。
        结果  CBL教学组在专业知识水平、病例分析能力方面均优于传统教学组(P<0.05)。CBL组的满意度亦显著高于对照组(P<0.05)。
        结论  CBL教学方法能更容易为留学生接受,且能提高心血管外科的临床实习效果。

       

      Abstract:
        AIM  To evaluate the application of case-based learning (CBL) in cardiovascular surgery clinical teaching for international undergraduates.
        METHODS  Twenty international medical undergraduates of 2014 Grade in Xi’an Jiaotong University were selected and randomly divided into control group (traditional teaching mode, n=10) and CBL teaching group (n=10). Grouped discussion with a typically selected case was used in CBL teaching group throughout pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative stages, while PPT-based teaching was used in control group. After clinical teaching, the teaching effects of the two groups were evaluated by expertise level and case analysis ability. Satisfaction survey was also conducted in students using questionnaire.
        RESULTS  Students in CBL teaching group were doing significantly better in terms of expertise level and case analysis ability than the students in control group. The questionnaire survey results showed that the students in CBL teaching group were significantly more satisfied with clinical teaching than the students in control group (all P<0.05).
        CONCLUSION  CBL teaching is more easily accepted by international students and can significantly improve the effects of cardiovascular surgery clinical teaching.
