Abstract:
The lesions of multivessel disease are complicated and choice of revascularization strategy is challenging. It has previously been believed that complete revascularization can improve the prognosis of patients with multivessel disease; however, recent anatomic study of complete revascularization has demonstrated that it does not significantly improve prognosis of patients. The prognosis of patients is related to risk of myocardial ischemia, which suggests that functional revascularization should be emphasized. Fractional flow reserve is a physiological index for evaluating coronary artery disease and it can identify the culprit vessels of myocardial ischemia caused by multivessel diseases. The progress of functional revascularization in patients with multivessel diseases is reviewed in this manuscript.
