    Correlation of ApoE and SLCO1B1 gene polymorphisms with coronary heart disease

    • AIM To investigate the association of ApoE and SLCO1B1 gene polymorphisms with coronary heart disease (CHD), and to provide data in the prevention of CHD. METHODS A case-control study was performed in the present investigation. The CHD group consisted of 827 patients of coronary heart disease, including 586 males and 241 females, mean age was (64±12) year; 753 individuals were enrolled as the control group, including 530 males and 223 females, mean age was (62±14) year. The genotypes were detected by PCR- Fluorescence Probing and the association between gene polymorphisms and CHD was statistically analyzed. RESULTS There were significant differences with regard to genotypes distributions and frequencies of genotypes for ApoE between the patients and the controls (P<0.05). There were no significant differences with regard to genotypes distributions and frequencies of genotypes for SLCO1B1 between patients and controls. CONCLUSION The frequency of£4 genotypes for ApoE is an important indicator of CHD. The gene polymorphisms of SLCO1B1 388A>G and 521T>C might be uncorrelated with CHD.
