Role of KLF2 in atherosclerosis under hypoxia

    • Kruppellike factor 2 (KLF2) is a member of the 17 zincfinger family of transcription factors. In recent years, research on KLF2 in the cardiovascular system is increasing. KLF2 plays some important roles such as antiinflammation, proliferation and antioxidant action. Atherosclerosis (AS) is a continuous, multifactorial process and is the result of the coaction of various factors. The hypoxic environment is different from the normoxic environment in accordance with stability of atheromatous plaques, participation of inflammatory factors and regulation of the action of factors on AS. This paper summarizes research on the antiAS action of KLF and its mechanism during recent years.
