Effect of fructose 1,6 2-bisphosphate on coagulation function in children with sepsis after open-heart surgery for congenital heart diseases

    • AIM:To study the effect of fructose 1,6 2-bisphosphate on coagulation function in children with sepsis after open-heart surgery for congenital heart diseases. METHODS: Twenty-three children with sepsis and 26 children without infection (contrast group) after open-heart surgery for congenital heart diseases were included in this study. The 23 children with sepsis were randomly divided into conventional group (n=12) and medication group (n=11). Children in the medication group were treated with 1,6 2-bisphosphate based on routine medication, whereas children in the conventional group were given saline instead of 1,6 2-bisphosphate based on routine medication. No treatment was given in the contrast group. The coagulation function including PT, APTT, Fib and PLT, D-dimer and the incidence rate of deep vein thrombosis were compared among the three groups. RESULTS: PT and APTT in conventional group were obviously higher than those in the contrast group and medication group (P<0.05). PLT level in the medication group was obviously higher than in the conventional group. No statistical difference was observed in D-dimer and Fib. There was one case of deep vein thrombosis in bilateral internal jugular veins and right femoral veins in conventional group and no occurrence of deep vein thrombosis in medication group. CONCLUSION: 1,6 2-bisphosphate improves coagulation function in children with sepsis and reduces the incidence rate of deep vein thrombosis.
