Abstract
Various mechanisms have been proposed explaining how high glucose induces vascular endothelial cell injury, such as the accumulation of advanced glycation endproducts, activated diacylglycerol/protein kinase C pathway, and increased oxidative stress. These pathways are all activated through hyperglycemia and their actions potentiate each other.
