Research progress of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells in the repair of myocardial injury

Myocardial infarction (MI) has a high mortality. Survival of MI in patients usually gradually develops into heart failure due to myocardial remodeling. The prognosis is poor. Recent studies have shown that bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs), a type of pluripotent stem cells, have a positive effect on the damaged myocardium, which provides a therapeutic alternative for improving the prognosis of MI patients. This article mainly reviews the mechanism of BMSCs in cardiac repair.
