Research progress in relationship between migraine and stroke

    • Migraine seriously affects the quality of everyday life, and migraine and cerebrovascular disease often occur together. There is a relationship between migraine with aura (MA) and ischemic stroke. Migraineurs run an increased risk of hemorrhagic stroke. Migraine is also related to the presence of silent brain lesions and ischemic lesions in the white matter. Migraine and stroke may share risk factors or pathophysiological mechanisms, such as cortical spreading depression and patent foramen ovale.
