Plasma BMP-2 level and its clinical significance in patients with coronary calcification

    • AIM: To investigate plasma BMP-2 level and its clinical significance in patients with coronary calcification. METHODS: According to the results of coronary angiography (CAG), 171 patients were divided into three groups: control group, stenosis without coronary calcification group, and stenosis with coronary calcification group. Plasma BMP-2 levels were studied and the plasma concentrations of BMP-2 were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA). RESULTS: Plasma BMP-2 levels in stenosis with coronary calcification group were higher than in the group of stenosis without coronary calcification. CONCLUSION: Elevation of plasma BMP-2 levels can be used as a marker for detection of coronary calcification.
