Abstract
The nucleoplasmic reticulum (NR) is a widespread intranuclear network comprising the nuclear envelope [the inner (INM) and outer nuclear membranes (ONM)], the nuclear pore complexes (NPCs), the integral membrane proteins, and the lamina rich in intermediate filament proteins underlying the INM. Therefore, the NR is not only a nuclear boundary, but also an independently functional unit. This article briefly overview the NR structure, function and role to play in the cardiac system.
