Abstract
AIM:To observe the effect of iodixanol on serum creatinine of patients with mild or moderate renal dysfunction and type II diabetes (T2D) and to examine the safety of iodixanol. METHODS: Included in the study were 84 patients with mild or moderate renal dysfunction and T2D undergoing cardiovascular angiography at the Wuhan Asian Heart Hospital. Paired data before and after cardiovascular angiography were compared using t test. RESULTS: Serum creatinine (Scr) at 3 days postoperatively significantly increased (2.5%) compared with baseline [(97±20) μmol/L vs. (95±20) μmol/L, P<0.05]. Scr at 3 days postsurgery significantly increased (2.1%) compared with that 2 days postsurgery [(97±20) μmol/L vs. (95±21) μmol/L, P<0.05]. CONCLUSION: Lodixanol can be used in patients with mild or moderate renal dysfunction and type II diabetes and only slightly increases Scr.
