The effect of guantong decoction in patients with postinfarction angina of Qi-deficiency and blood-stasis syndrome

AIM To observe the effect of Guan Tongfang on patients with angina pectoris and qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome after myocardial infarction. METHODS Eighty patients with angina pectoris were randomly divided into a test group and a control group. Forty patients in each group were treated with Guan Tong Fang and Western medicine. The control group was treated with western medicine. Comparison of the clinical effects of the two groups and observed changes were studied. RESULTS The efficacy of TCM syndromes, angina pectoris, and electrocardiogram were better than those of the control group (all P<0.05). There was significant difference (P<0.05) in the classification and score of coronary collateral circulation between the two groups after treatment. There was no significant difference between the two groups in collateral circulation of the coronary artery. CONCLUSION Guan Tong Fang is safe in the treatment of angina pectoris after myocardial infarction.
