Experience of using Kiwami catheter for percutaneous coronary intervention in severe calcified lesions

    • AIM To summarize the experience of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) using a 4F Kiwami catheter with Mother-Child technique for severe calcified lesions. METHODS The data of 44 patients with severe calcified lesions who underwent PCI using Kiwami catheter in our hospital from December 2015 to February 2017 were analyzed retrospectively. The results and the complications of PCI were collected, and MACEs were also observed. RESULTS Angiographic success was achieved in 43 patients who underwent stent placement through Kiwami catheter. The procedure failed in 1 patient because of dissection. There were no serious complications and no MACEs observed in any patients. CONCLUSION The Kiwami catheter can be used in severe calcified lesions.
