Exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation therapy of acute myocardial infarction after interventional therapy

    • Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a common critical emergency with an increasing incidence during recent years. Mortality of AMI increases with age. Percutaneous transluminal coronary intervention (PCI) plays an important role in the treatment of AMI. However, PCI could not alter the progression of atherosclerosis and there is the risk of restenosis and stent thrombosis as well as many other complications. Therefore, rehabilitation in the treatment of coronary heart disease has developed from traditional post-MI rehabilitation to AMI rehabilitation. This article briefly reviews the current exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation therapy of AMI after interventional therapy.
