Research progress in FoxO3a and cardiovascular disease

Forkhead Fox O (FoxO) 3a, one of the FoxO family members, has been shown to be deregulated in many types of human cancers. Recent studies have shown that in addition to its activity to enhance vascular antioxidant properties, FoxO3a also appears to be necessary in modulating vascular smooth muscle proliferation, endothelial cell development and cardiomyocyte growth in pathological or biological processes. In this article we review the research progress in FoxO3a and cardiovascular disease.
