Determination of serum bilirubin and resistin content in patients with coronary slow flow

    • AIM To explore the relationship between serum bilirubin, resistin and coronary slow flow phenomenon (CSFP). METHODS Forty patients with CSFP selected by coronary arteriography (CAG) and corrected TIMI frame count (CTFC) were assigned to CSFP group and 40 patients with normal coronary flow to control group. Basic data, normal serum biochemical tests, enzyme-linked immunoassay (ELISA) and colorimetric method were conducted to analyze and compare the indicators of CSFP, with bilirubin and resistin included. RESULTS No significant differences were found in the general data between groups. Compared with those in the control group, the smoking rate and blood glucose level in CSFP group were higher (both P<0.05). Moreover, CSFP possessed a lower concentration of serum bilirubin (P<0.01) and higher resistin (P<0.05) in comparison with those in the control group. CONCLUSION Results demonstrate that a low concentration of serum bilirubin and high smoking rate and high resistin are closely related to CSFP.
