Progress of transcription factor FoxO1 and its role in cardiovascular diseases

FoxO1 is the first transcription factor found in FoxO subfamily. The transcriptional activity of FoxO1 is regulated by a variety of protein modifications. Recent studies have shown that FoxO1 plays an important role in the development of cardiovascular diseases. In this article, a review is presented of posttranslational modification effects on FoxO1 and its role in cardiovascular diseases.
