Hybrid procedures in adults with double output of right ventricle

    • AIM: To explore the clinical effect of hybrid therapy performed in adults with double output of right ventricle (DORV). METHODS: Transcatheter closure of collateral arteries was performed in 12 cases with huge aorta pulmonary collateral arteries (APCAs) before total correction of tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) and in nine cases after total correction. RESULTS: In the 12 cases of transcatheter closure before correction, pulmonary blood volume decreased and satisfactory results were achieved. In the nine cases of transcatheter closure after correction, one patient died and the time necessary for mechanical ventilation and ICU were longer. CONCLUSION: Hybrid therapy for DORV with huge APCAs is safe, simple and effective. Transcatheter closure before total correction achieves better results than transcatheter closure after total correction.
