Abstract
AIM:To examine whether elevated plasma total homocysteine (Hcy) is a risk factor for total ischia burden in angina pectoris. METHODS: The study consisted of 90 cases of stable angina pectoris (SAP) and 90 cases of unstable angina pectoris (UAP) and the difference in total ischia burden was observed between hyperhomocysteinemia (Hhcy) and non-Hhcy in angina pectoris patients. RESULTS: The levels of plasma total Hcy and total ischia burden in UAP were significantly higher than those in SAP (P<0.05). The total ischia burden of SAP and UAP patients in Hhcy was significantly higher than that in normal plasma Hcy (P<0.01). CONCLUSION: Hhcy is a risk factor for total ischia burden in patients with angina pectoris.
