Abstract
AIM:To evaluate heparin stability on heparincoated cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) circuits. METHODS: Heparin offrates of CPB stimulation method and immersion method at different time points were determined. RESULTS: At 128 h, different levels of heparin molecule shedding phenomenon were observed in heparinbinding surface in both groups and the heparin offrate increased with time. The maximum heparin offrates of the CPB method and immersion method were, respectively, 92 and 85 during a certain period of time, with no significant difference between groups. CONCLUSION: Heparin stability on heparincoated circuits of CPB has relatively stronger heparin binding and is of better clinical use.
