Study of heparin stability on heparincoated circuits under simulating cardiopulmonary bypass

    • AIM:To evaluate heparin stability on heparincoated cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) circuits. METHODS: Heparin offrates of CPB stimulation method and immersion method at different time points were determined. RESULTS: At 128 h, different levels of heparin molecule shedding phenomenon were observed in heparinbinding surface in both groups and the heparin offrate increased with time. The maximum heparin offrates of the CPB method and immersion method were, respectively, 92 and 85 during a certain period of time, with no significant difference between groups. CONCLUSION: Heparin stability on heparincoated circuits of CPB has relatively stronger heparin binding and is of better clinical use.
