Change of serum lipoprotein(α) in coronary heart disease and its significance

    • AIM To investigate the changes of serum lipoprotein(α) [LP(α)] as well as the relationship with the types and severity of coronary lesions and the prognosis in coronary heart diseases(CHD). METHODS Patients with CHD (95 cases) were divided into three groups: acute myocardial infarction (AMI) group of 30 cases, unstable angina pectoris (UAP) group of 35 cases and stable angina pectoris (SAP) group of 30 cases. The levels of LP(α) of the three groups were compared and then the patients were followed up for 1 month. The end point was main acute cardiac events. RESULTS ①In terms of different clinical types of CHD, the level of LP(α) and the occurrence rate of MACE in UAP group and AMI group were significantly higher than those in SAP group (P<0.05), but no significant difference was found between UAP group and AMI group. ②In terms of LP(α) levels, the coronary lesions of multiple branches and the occurrence rate of MACE in the group of more than 300mg/L were significantly higher than those in the group of less than 300 mg/L (P<0.01). CONCLUSION The level of LP(α) is positively correlated with the severity of coronary lesions and the prognosis of CHD.
