Analysis of distribution characteristics and related factors of epilepsy with J wave syndrome

    • AIM To analyze the distribution characteristics and related factors of epilepsy with J wave syndrome. METHODS Thirty-five epilepsy patients with J wave syndrome from June 2015 to June 2016 were compared with 35 epilepsy patients without J wave syndrome. RESULTS Among the 35 epilepsy patients with J wave syndrome, the J wave was obvious in 7 patients (20%), the J wave could still be identified in 12 patients (34%) with partial fusion of J wave and T wave. The J wave could not be identified in 16 patients (46%) with total fusion of J wave and T wave. The inferior leads showed J wave in 17 patients (49%) and anterior leads showed J wave in 18 patients (51%). Significant differences were found in hsCRP between the group of J wave and group of no J wave [(5.4±0.9) mmol/L vs.(3.3±0.7) mmol/L, P<0.05]. Pearson correlation analysis showed hs-CRP was associated with J wave syndrome in patients with epilepsy (r=0.28, P=0.036). CONCLUSION J wave syndrome occurs in some patients 2-3 minutes after epilepsy. J wave occurs in the inferior wall and the anterior wall. hs-CRP was associated with J wave syndrom in patients with epilepsy.
