Therapeutic effects of treatment of microcirculation disorders in metabolic syndrome

    • AIM: To investigate the therapeutic effects of treatment of microcirculation disorders on metabolic syndrome (MS). METHODS: One hundred and twenty three MS patients who fulfilled the diagnostic criteria of the American National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) Adult Treatment Panel III (ATPIII) were enrolled in the study and randomly divided into two groups. Sixty three patients were treated with microcirculation disorder treatment and the other 60 patients were treated with conventional therapy. The indicators of the same patients before and after treatments were compared. We also compared the indicators of the subjects from one group with those of the subjects from the other group, before and after a month of different treatments. RESULTS: 1) The indicators, including abdominal circumference, blood pressure, blood sugar and lipids of the patients from the two groups decreased after the treatments. Significant differences were observed in each group when the indicators before treatment were compared with those after treatment (P<0.01). 2) After the microcirculation disorder treatment, indicators decreased more significantly. When we compared the effects of the two treatments, all indicators showed marked differences (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Microcirculation disorder treatment has significantly better therapeutic effects on MS when compared with conventional therapy and deserves further research.
