Clinical value of impedance cardiography in early treatment of congestive heart failure

    • AIM:To investigate the clinical value of noninvasive cardiac impedance detector in monitoring hemodynamic changes of congestive heart failure (CHF) for further treatment. METHODS: Noninvasive cardiac impedance detector was applied in 67 patients with CHF and indicators including heart rate, base impedance, stroke volume, cardiac output, cardiac contractility index, systolic function index, diastolic function index, total peripheral vascular resistance and blood vessel compliance were monitored. Changes of symptoms and the above indicators before and 3 h after treatment and on the third day after disease onset were recorded and analyzed. RESULTS: Statistical analysis showed that heart rate and total peripheral vascular resistance decreased, and base impedance, stroke volume, cardiac output, cardiac contractility index, systolic function index, diastolic function index, and blood vessel compliance indicators significantly increased before and after treatment. CONCLUSION: Noninvasive cardiac function detector can reflect hemodynamic changes in CHF and has some clinical value for the treatment of CHF.
