Abstract
AIM:To assess the effect of noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV) on the concentration of plasma hs-troponin T (hs-TnT) in patients with acute left ventricular failure. METHODS: A total of 46 patients with acute left ventricular failure were randomly divided into two groups: NIPPV group (n=26) and conventional treatment group (n=20). The conventional treatment group was given routine therapy and oxygen uptake, whereas the NIPPV group was given routine therapy and NIPPV. Plasma hs-TnT was measured before and after therapy in both groups. RESULTS: Better clinical effects were observed in the NIPPV group with significant differences between groups (P<0.05). PaO2, SpO2, HR, R, and LVEF in the NIPPV improved significantly higher than other conventional treatment groups (P<0.05). After 24 h therapy, hs-TnT decreased significantly in both groups (P<0.05, P<0.01) and hs-TnT in the NIPPV group was significantly lower than that in conventional group (P<0.01). CONCLUSION: NIPPV enhances the therapeutic effects and decreases plasma hs-TnT level in patients with acute left ventricular failure.
