Abstract
AIM:To explore the clinical characteristics in patients who died due to inhospital chronic heart failure (HF). METHODS: Clinical data of 1 472 patients with chronic HF were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into two groups: 131 cases for the inhospital group who died and 1 341 cases in the survival group. Clinical data of the two groups were analyzed and compared. RESULTS: Total mortality in the 1 472 patients with chronic HF was 89% (131/1 472). Age, blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol, heart cavity diameter and ejection fraction in the inhospital group of patients who died were significantly higher than those in the survival group. The complication rate and multiple risk factors were also higher in the inhospital patient group who died. CONCLUSION: Advanced age, hypertension, hyperglycemia and hyperlipemia all increase the mortality of patients with chronic HF. Higher risk factors represent higher mortality rate in chronic HF patients.
