Research progress on the relationship between insulin resistance and heart failure

Insulin resistance (IR) is a state in which body tissues have a lowered level of response to insulin. Studies have found a close relationship between IR and heart failure (HF). IR contributes to the development of heart failure and aggravated heart failure can promote the development of IR. This vicious cycle between IR and heart failure may cause the deterioration of heart failure and the promotion of IR. This article reviews the research progress in the relationship between IR and heart failure.
