Relationship between effective refractory period of pulmonary vein and atrial fibrillation

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia. Many theories have been advanced about the mechanism of AF. Studies have confirmed that shortened pulmonary vein effective refractory period promotes and maintains the occurrence of AF. This article reviews the relationship and mechanism between effective refractory period of pulmonary vein and AF.
