Abstract
Hypoxia is one of the characteristics of high-altitude areas. The damage of anoxia to the body is mostly related to dysfunction of the mitochondria. Under hypoxic conditions, erythropoietin compensation increases and potentially may have an impact on the function of the mitochondria. In this article, the effects of hypoxia and erythropoietin on mitochondria are summarized.
