Implantable cardioverter-defibrillator in sudden cardiac death

Abstract
Sudden cardiac death (SCD) is dangerous and common. The implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) has emerged as an important treatment option for selected patients who are at risk of SCD. ICD therapy is the standard of care in the primary and secondary prevention of SCD and significant progress has been made in ICD clinical practice recently. This article reviews the progress of ICD in SCD made in recent years.
