Application of home remote blood pressure management of hypertension in elderly patients

    • AIM To investigate the application value of home remote blood pressure management of hypertension in elderly hypertensive patients. METHODS Data of daily outpatient clinic blood pressure and home remote blood pressure of primary hypertension in elderly patients from January 2011 to December 2015 were collected from 40 communities and retrospectively analyzed and compared. RESULTS The disease ratio of high blood pressure in elderly patients ranked third in the daily outpatient visits and the ratio dropped each year. A significant decline was found since 2012 and the decline was significant each year after. The ratio of outpatient visits of elderly hypertension patients decreased each year and use of remote home blood pressure management in elderly hypertensive patients increased each year since 2012. Both the constituent ratio of annual total hospitalization and the constituent ratio of hospitalization due to hypertension declined yearly in elderly hypertensive patients. CONCLUSION Application of home remote blood pressure management in elderly patients with hypertension reduces both the outpatient visit rate and hospitalization rate in elderly hypertensive patients.
