Research development of biomarkers for oxidative stress in atherosclerosis

More and more evidence has highlighted the roles of oxidative stress in the promotion of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.Recent pathological studies have elucidated some specific mediators participating in oxidative stress reaction and in the promotion of the formation and rupture of atherosclerotic plaques in the artery wall.These mediators can be measured in the systemic circulation and can be used as biomarkers for risk assessment of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.Theses biomarkers are reviewed in this article.
