AIM To explore the application and effect of the five-step teaching method of “teaching, performance, practice, correcting and evaluating” in the practical course of aerospace cardiovascular physiology.
METHODS Students of grade 2017 eight-year aerospace medicine major and trainees of aviation military doctor training course in 2021 and 2022 from Air Force Medical University were selected as the research objects. The control group was the trainees in 2021 and traditional teaching method was adopted (66 students). In the experimental group, the students of grade 2017 eight-year aerospace medicine major (5 students) and the trainees in 2022 (42 students) adopted the five-step teaching method of “teaching, performance, practice, correcting and evaluating”, and evaluated the teaching effect according to the test score and satisfaction survey.
RESULTS The score in the in-class test of theoretical knowledge was (7.39±1.16) in the control group, and (8.96±0.48) in the experimental group (full score: 10, P<0.01). The operational assessment score of the control group was (14.93±1.47) points, and that of the experimental group was (16.97±1.64) points (full score 20 points, P<0.01). In the experimental group, 89.36% of the students (42/47) approved the five-step teaching method of “teaching, performance, practice, correcting and evaluating”.
CONCLUSION The five-step teaching method of “teaching, performance, practice, correcting and evaluating” can stimulate students’ interest in learning, effectively improve the teaching effect of aerospace cardiovascular physiology practice course, and provide a new idea for the teaching of other relevant practical courses.
