Abstract
Sedentary behavior is harmful to human health. Previous studies mainly focused on the relationship between sedentary behavior and all-cause mortality or metabolic disorders, while the connection between sedentary behavior and the development of cardiovascular disease is needed to be further discussed. This review mainly discusses the mechanisms linking sedentary behavior to CVD risk, analyzes the effect that sedentary behavior has on hemodynamics, inflammation, oxidative stress, aging, etc., and presents an overview of studies that explore the underlying mechanisms of the connection between sedentary behavior and the development of cardiovascular disease. There is an urgent need for public health guidelines on physical activity and sedentary behavior.
