Experience analysis of distal transradial artery access in nasopharyngeal fossa region in coronary angiography and interventional therapy

    •   AIM  To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of coronary angiography and interventional therapy through the distal transradial artery access.
METHODS  Selected for this study were 101 patients who underwent coronary angiography and interventional therapy via distal transradial artery access in nasopharyngeal fossa region in Qingdao Fuwai Cardiovascular Disease Hospital from June 2020 to December 2020. The general hospitalization data, coronary heart disease risk factors, duration of puncture, postoperative pain score, postoperative complications and other data were collected. RESULTS A total of 96 patients were successfully penetrated through the distal transradial artery access in nasopharyngeal fossa region and the success rate was 98% (95%). NRS score was 2.9±1.9 immediately after operation and 2.0±1.8 again 3 hours after operation(P<0.01), (P<0.05), (P<0.01). CONCLUSION Coronary angiography and interventional therapy via the distal radial artery in the nasopharyngeal fossa region is feasible, safe and effective, and can be used as the preferred interventional route except in some cases.
