Advances in role of STIM, ORAI and TRPC mediating SOCE in proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells

The store-operated calcium influx plays an important role in the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells, which play a key role in vascular remodelling. The study of store-operated calcium influx may help to provide molecular targets for the prevention and treatment of atherosclerotic diseases which are characterized by vascular remodeling. In this review, the roles of STIM, ORAI and TRPC in store-operated calcium influx and their effects on the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells were summarized.
