Research progress of Kawasaki disease in children

Kawasaki disease (KD) has become one of the leading causes of acquired cardiac disease in children, which can result in devastating cardiovascular complications. Among the cardiovascular complications, coronary artery lesions can lead to long term morbidity and mortality, especially the development of coronary artery aneurysm. Nowadays, scientists have done much work on exploring different aspects of this disease. This article is a survey of the main research from the aspects of epidemiology, etiology, pathology, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of KD.
