    Correlation analysis of serum XBP-1S expression with diabetes and its clinical multiple factors in patients with acute myocardial infarction

    •   AIM  To explore the correlation between spliced x box binding protein 1 (XBP-1S) serum concentration and basic information, clinical indicators, and imaging of patients with acute myocardial infarction within 24 hours of admission.
        METHODS  A total of 86 patients were admitted for acute myocardial infarction. Median XBP-1S serum concentration was 164.7pg/ml. Patients were divided into two groups: a low expression group (< 164.7pg/ml, n = 43) and a high expression group (≥164.7pg/ml, n = 43). Basic, clinical and coronary angiography data of the patients were collected for correlation analysis.
        RESULTS  Comparison between groups found that the prevalence of diabetes mellitus in the high-expression group was significantly higher than that in the low-expression group (P < 0.05); there was a correlation between the number of coronary atherosclerotic lesions in the high-expression and low-expression groups (P < 0.05 ); XBP-1S serum concentration was positively correlated with the number of branches of blood vessels.
        CONCLUSION  In patients with a high prevalence of diabetes mellitus, the expression of XBP-1S in serum may be significantly increased during the acute phase of AMI onset, and it is positively correlated with the number of branches of diseased blood vessels.
