Effect of acupoint massage combined with cardiac rehabilitation exercise in patients with coronary artery stent implantation

    •   AIM  To explore the effects of acupoint massage combined with cardiac rehabilitation exercise on blood lipid levels, cardiac function, emotional state, sleep and quality of life in patients undergoing coronary artery stent implantation (PCI).
METHODS  120 patients with PCI of coronary heart disease admitted from January 2017 to June 2019 were randomly divided into a control group and an intervention group (60 cases in each group). The control group was treated with routine exercise rehabilitation after PCI, and the intervention group was treated with acupoint massage combined with cardiac rehabilitation exercise on the basis of routine exercise rehabilitation. The blood lipid index total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high sensitivity lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), cardiac function index left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), amino-terminal brain natriuretic peptide precursor (NT-proBNP), 6-minute walking distance (6MWT), coke were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Depression Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), sleep quality Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and quality of life using Seattle Quality of Life Scale (SAQ), including physical activity limitation (PL), angina stability (AS), angina attack (AF) Treatment satisfaction (TS) and disease awareness (DS) scores.
Results  There were no significant differences in blood lipid index, cardiac function index, anxiety and depression, sleep quality, and quality of life between the two groups before treatment. TC, TG, LDL-C, HDL-C, NT-proBNP, HAMA, HAMD, PSQI in the intervention group were significantly lower than those before treatment and after treatment in the control group. LVEF, 6MWT, PL, AS, AF, TS, DS were significantly lower than those before treatment and after treatment in the control group. There was a significant increase before treatment and after treatment in the control group (P < 0.05).
Conclusion  Acupoint massage combined with cardiac rehabilitation exercises can significantly improve blood lipid levels, improve cardiac function, alleviate anxiety, depression and other adverse emotions, improve sleep, and quality of life after PCI.
