    Comparison of heart rate and heart rate variability after PCI between bisoprolol and metoprolol in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction

    • AIM To investigate the difference of heart rate and heart rate variability between bisoprolol and metoprolol after PCI for acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. Methods One hundred and twenty patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction after PCI were divided into treatment group and control group, 60 cases in each group. Control group was given metoprolol succinate sustained-release tablets after operation and treatment group was given bisoprolol fumarate after operation. Both groups received routine antiplatelet therapy recommended by the guidelines. Changes of heart rate and heart rate variability were compared between the two groups at first month and third months after operation. Results After treatment, the fastest heart rate and the average heart rate in treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05) and the time domain indexes (SDNN, SDANN, RMSSD, PNN50) in the treatment group were significantly improved (P<0.05). Conclusion Bisoprolol effectively improves the heart rate and heart rate variability after PCI in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction.
