    Connexin 43 and ischemic arrhythmia

    • Ischemic arrhythmia is one of the leading causes of death in acute myocardial infarction. Connexin 43 is the main connexin of ventricular muscle cells. After myocardial infarction, the disturbance of the distribution and decreased expression of Cx43 are associated with ischemic arrhythmia and cardiac function recovery. Studies have reported that various signaling pathways, such as NF-κB, PKA and PKC, exert antiarrhythmic effects by regulating the expressions and functions of Cx43. Cx43 transgenic cell transplantation also has some good effects on anti-arrhythmia and cardiac function recovery. So this review will focus on the relationship between connexin 43 and arrhythmia as well as cardiac function recovery after myocardial infarction.
