Effect of clinical pathway in radiofrequency ablation on patients with paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia

    • AIM:To assess the effect of clinical pathway in radiofrequency ablation in patients with paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. METHODS: The treatment process of 140 paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia patients treated with radiofrequency ablation was retrospectively analyzed. Patients were divided into clinical path group and control group. Average length of hospitalization, total cost, and degree of satisfaction from doctors and patients were compared between groups. RESULTS: The average length of hospitalization and the total cost in the clinical path group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05), whereas the degree of satisfaction from doctors and patients in the clinical path group was significantly higher than in the control group (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The implementation of the clinical pathway in radiofrequency ablation for patients with paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia not only significantly shortens the hospital stay and reduces hospitalization costs but also improves the clinical effect and enhances the satisfaction from both doctors and patients.
