Clinical effect of fast diet on patients with impaired glucose tolerance

    • AIM To investigate the clinical effect of the treatment of the fast diet on patients with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT). METHODS One hundred and twenty patients with IGT were randomly divided into group A (n=60) and group B (n=60). Group A was treated with the fast diet and group B with acarbose tablets. After 6 omonths of treatment, the clinical indexes of the two groups were analyzed. RESULTS After treatment, levels of TG, FPG and P2hPG in both groups decreased (all P<0.01); however, there was a statistically significant difference in TC level between groups (Group A, P<0.01). CONCLUSION Treatment with fast diet is clinically effective in patients with IGT.
