    Protective effects of Fufang Tianqi tablet extraction on +Gz-induced heart and kidney injury in rats

    • AIM:To evaluate the protective effect of the extraction of Fufang Tianqi tablet, a compound prescription of Chinese medicinal herbs, on cardiac and kidney injuries caused by +Gz in rats and to propose new protective measures for high +Gz. METHODS: Thirty-six male Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups: control group (group A), high +Gz group (group B) and drug group (group C). The rats in group C were treated with Fufang Tianqi tablet extraction for 14 days, whereas rats in group A and group B were treated with the same amount of water (20 ml/kg). Rats in group B and group C were exposed to +10 Gz for 5 min after 14 days. At 1 h after centrifugation, blood samples were taken from rats in all three groups for the assaying of heart and kidney injury markers content in the Department of Clinical Immunology, Xijing Hospital. The kidney tissues were taken for kidney ATP enzyme staining and electron microscopy observation. RESULTS: Compared with those in group A, CK and CK-MB significantly increased in group B. CK-MB also significantly increased in group C after high +Gz exposure (P<0.01). In addition, CK significantly increased in group C with group A (P<0.05). Compared with those in group A, BUN reduced significantly in group B (P<0.05), and Cr significantly increased (P<0.05). BUN and Cr showed no significant change in group C with group A, but BUN significantly increased in group C compared with group B (P<0.05). Renal ATP content significantly reduced in group B compared with that in group A after +Gz exposure. Electron microscopy showed that kidney damage in group B was more significant than in group C. CONCLUSION: Fufang Tianqi tablet extraction exerts some protective effect on the improvement of ischemia and hypoxia in rats after high +Gz exposure.
