    Gene expression of VDUP1 decreases in peripheral leucocytes of patients with coronary artery disease

    • AIM:To detect the expression of VDUP1 gene in peripheral blood leukocytes in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). METHODS: Western blot and RT-PCR methods were used to detect the expression level of VDUP1 gene in peripheral blood leukocytes of 120 CAD patients and 130 healthy human subjects. RESULTS: Expression of VDUP1 was lower in CAD patients than in controls (P<0.05) and VDUP1 protein was significantly downregulated in CAD patients (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The expression of VDUP1 gene is downregulated in CAD patients, which suggests that the VDUP1 gene may be involved in the progression of CAD.
