Relationship between toll like receptors 4 and the severity of coronary artery lesion in patients with coronary heart disease

    • AIM To explore the relationship between toll like receptors 4 (TLR4) level and severity of coronary artery lesions in coronary heart disease patients. METHODS 141 patients with coronary heart disease participated in the study. The coronary heart disease group was divided into <33 Syntax score group (low-middle score group, n=102), and ≥33 Syntax score group (high score group, n=39). The correlation between TLR4 levels with Syntax score and risk factors were measured by linear correlation analysis and multivariate regression analysis, respectively. RESULTS Compared with the low-middle score group, TLR4 levels were significantly higher [(93±24) vs.(128±29) ng/ml, P<0.01] in high score group. TLR4 levels were positively related to Syntax score (r=0.539, P<0.01). Multivariate regression analysis revealed that TLR4 was independent to the Syntax score≥33 (OR=15.645, 95%CI:5.322-45.994; P<0.01). CONCLUSION TLR4 level is closely associated with severity of coronary artery 1esions.
